Men’s hair patches, hair systems, toupees, human hair wigs, lace fronts, second skins, glue-on hair—there are countless terms used to describe non-surgical hair loss solutions. With so many names to navigate, it can be difficult for clients to even determine what a fair price should be.
Over the past decade, men’s hairpieces have evolved dramatically, particularly in terms of fit, hair quality, and bonding methods. The industry has progressed from thick-based systems that were sewn or clipped into natural hair, to advanced adhesives from companies such as Walker Adhesives and Pro Hair Labs. Today, specialised double-sided tapes designed specifically for hair systems can provide secure bonding for up to 30 days.
Replique founder, Scott Hickman, had his first hair piece in 1991 and it was over $2000, which is probably $5000 in todays currency. Since Replique opened in Brisbane in 2016, and then in Sydney, we have always strived to offer five star service at entry level prices and so have always offer him quality hair systems at our hair loss clinics for less than $1000.
Some long-established hair loss and hair replacement companies continue to charge over $2,000 for the same style of hairpiece they’ve been supplying for years, without updating their base designs to more modern systems. This often comes down to scale and structure—many of these are large international organisations that struggle to adapt quickly, unlike newer, owner-operated businesses that are more agile and able to respond to evolving hair system technology and changing customer expectations.
Replique hairpieces are handcrafted and custom-designed to our own specifications, creating a base that is both natural in appearance and durable enough for Australian conditions. Many of our clients are in their early 20s and simply can’t justify paying $2,000 or more for a single hairpiece. For this reason, we offer all of our handmade hair systems using premium human hair for $900, plus fitting and haircut fees. We also provide flexible payment options through Zippay and Afterpay.

While cheaper online alternatives do exist, they are inexpensive for a reason. These suppliers often use lower-grade hair that is machine sewn into the base, resulting in systems that lack the durability, realism, and lifespan of a handcrafted Replique hairpiece.
